Role Overview:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior HR leader to join as Head of People Services, taking responsibility for shaping and delivering a high-quality, responsive and progressive People function.

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will help shape and deliver the People Strategy while acting as a trusted adviser on workforce planning, organisational development, leadership capability and performance. You will lead and develop the People Services team, oversee the full employee lifecycle and use data, technology and insight to create an efficient, digitally enabled service and an outstanding employee experience.

This is a broad and influential leadership position encompassing culture, employee engagement, talent, organisational development, employee relations, HR systems, workforce planning, reward, wellbeing and People governance.

Responsibilities of the Head of People Services:

  • Shape and deliver the People Strategy, workforce plans and organisational development priorities, providing expert advice and constructive challenge to senior leaders.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing People Services function, overseeing the full employee lifecycle, employee relations, talent acquisition, L&D, reward, wellbeing and HR policies.
  • Drive organisational change, culture and employee engagement initiatives, championing an inclusive, values-led environment and effective leadership capability.
  • Lead People systems, data, governance and budgets, using technology, automation and workforce insights to improve efficiency, compliance and strategic decision-making.

Requirements of the Head of People Services:

  • CIPD Level 7 or an equivalent combination of senior-level HR experience and education, alongside substantial HR leadership and business partnering experience.
  • Strong track record of leading People teams and delivering organisational change, workforce planning, OD, L&D, culture and complex employee relations activity.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice, with experience developing policies, managing governance and using People data to inform senior-level decisions.
  • Credibility and confidence to influence senior stakeholders, combined with strong leadership, coaching, commercial awareness, project management and organisational design skills.
