Role Description
The Head of Philanthropy is a full-time, hybrid role based in the City of London, with the flexibility to work from home for part of the week. This position leads the development and implementation of philanthropy and fundraising strategies to grow sustainable income from a diverse range of donors, with a particular focus on high-value giving. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Managing and expanding relationships with major donors
- Overseeing donor stewardship and recognition
- Designing compelling cases for support aligned with the foundation’s mission
- Coordinating fundraising campaigns
- Collaborating with program and communications teams to showcase impact
- Monitoring performance against targets and budgets

The role also involves:
- Leading and mentoring a small team
- Ensuring best practice in fundraising governance and compliance
- Representing the foundation at key events and stakeholder meetings
Qualifications & Attitude
- Proven experience in securing and managing support from major donors, including high-net-worth individuals and philanthropic partners.
- Strong expertise in philanthropy and fundraising strategy, with a track record of meeting or exceeding income targets.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, compelling narratives about impact and present confidently to diverse audiences.
- Knowledge of the charity and non-profit sector, including a good understanding of regulatory and ethical standards.
- Experience leading and developing voluntary teams, with strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
- A highly resourceful self-starter who can work independently, take ownership, and make effective use of available resources.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, start-up environment, with the ambition, initiative, and drive to help shape and grow the Foundation’s philanthropic work.
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills, including the ability to use data to guide decision-making and measure outcomes.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, managing time and priorities across office-based and remote work.
- Relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in fundraising, non-profit management, public policy, business, or a related field.
