Role Description
The Head of Place Management is a full-time, hybrid role based in London, with flexibility for some work from home. This role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management, presentation, and performance of Oxford Street as a destination, including public realm operations, cleanliness, safety, wayfinding, and visitor experience. The Head of Place Management will develop and implement place management strategies, coordinate with local authorities, businesses, and service providers, and ensure that standards are maintained consistently.

Typical activities include:

- Managing contracts and service levels
- Monitoring operational KPIs
- Leading on incident response and escalation processes
- Identifying continuous improvements to street operations and user experience
The role also involves:
- Leading a multidisciplinary team
- Managing budgets
- Contributing to long-term regeneration plans
- Representing OSDC in stakeholder meetings and community engagement activities
Qualifications
- Strong experience in place management, urban regeneration, or destination management, ideally within a complex city or high-footfall environment.
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams, with experience in coordinating contractors, service providers, and cross-functional internal colleagues.
- Demonstrated skills in stakeholder engagement and partnership working, including collaboration with local authorities, businesses, community groups, and external agencies.
- Experience in operational planning, performance monitoring, and continuous improvement, including managing budgets, KPIs, and service level agreements.
- Knowledge of public realm design and maintenance, safety and security in public spaces, and best practices for accessibility and inclusive user experience.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with capacity to make evidence-based decisions and manage risk in a high-profile setting.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in urban planning, regeneration, real estate, facilities management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Comfort working in a hybrid environment, with proficiency in digital tools for collaboration, reporting, and stakeholder communication.
