Lead Planner / Head of Planning

📍 London | Hybrid with occasional travel

Shape the future of a growing planning consultancy.

Are you ready to step into a leadership role where you'll influence strategy, develop teams, and work alongside a Planning Director to grow a high-performing business?

We're looking for an experienced Lead Planner / Head of Planning to become the number two in the Planning function, combining technical excellence with commercial leadership on some of the UK's most complex infrastructure programmes.

This is far more than a planning role, you'll play a key part in business growth, client relationships, team leadership and delivering exceptional project outcomes.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading and mentoring a team of planning professionals
  • Supporting business growth through bidding, account management and strategic client engagement
  • Managing commercial performance, including P&L responsibilities
  • Providing expert planning advice across major infrastructure programmes
  • Producing high-quality reports and presenting to senior stakeholders
  • Managing change control, compensation events and Extension of Time (EOT) assessments
  • Reviewing contracts and advising clients on commercial, programme and project risks
  • Working collaboratively with clients, contractors and supply chain partners to deliver successful outcomes
  • Driving best practice through collaborative planning and lean methodologies

What we're looking for

  • Significant experience using Primavera P6
  • Strong knowledge of NEC4 contracts
  • Previous consultancy experience
  • Expertise in compensation events, EOT claims and commercial planning
  • Experience leading teams and managing client relationships
  • Strong reporting, presentation and stakeholder management skills
  • Power BI and advanced reporting experience
  • Background delivering major highways or heavy civil engineering projects
