Shape the future of technology in a business that's still building
At MAB, we're investing heavily in technology, modernising our platforms and creating the foundations for our next stage of growth. With a new Group CIO helping shape the future direction of technology across the business, there's never been a more exciting time to join us - you'll feel the benefit of investment, stability and ambition of a listed business, without the weight of layers of bureaucracy and barriers to delivery.
As our Head of Platform Engineering, you'll play a key leadership role in that journey. Reporting to the Director of Platform Engineering (recently promoted from Head of), you'll lead a highly capable team responsible for the platforms, cloud infrastructure and engineering capabilities that underpin our technology estate.
You'll inherit a team already performing at a high level. The team has exceptional tenure and a strong collaborative culture. Your focus won't be fixing problems, it will be helping our engineers become even better, driving engineering excellence and delivering the platform strategy that supports our growth.
This is a leadership role balanced with a strategic focus, with plenty of opportunity to influence, while retaining an operational element and staying close to the day-to-day delivery.
What You’ll Be Doing

- Translate platform strategy into clear technical priorities and successful delivery outcomes.
- Provide senior technical leadership across cloud infrastructure, platform architecture and engineering practices.
- Drive platform reliability, security, scalability and operational excellence.
- Champion modern engineering approaches across Infrastructure as Code, automation, CI/CD, observability and cloud operations.
- Lead incident management and operational readiness across critical platforms.
- Partner closely with Architecture, Security, Engineering and Technology leaders to shape the future platform landscape.
- Drive continuous improvement, automation and efficiency across the technology estate.
- Support and influence technology decisions that will have a lasting impact on the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
