Head of PMO

Horsham – Hybrid (3DPW in office)
Up to £100,000 + Bonus

VIQU are partnering with a leading financial services organisation delivering a large-scale technology transformation programme. As part of the CIO function, they are looking for an experienced Head of PMO to oversee governance, financial management, resource planning, reporting and assurance across a complex portfolio of technology change. Working closely with Programme Directors and senior technology stakeholders, you will drive consistency across the portfolio, providing executive-level insight, challenge and governance to support the successful delivery of strategic technology programmes within a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Head of PMO:

  • Lead the PMO function across a complex portfolio of technology programmes, driving consistency, governance and delivery oversight.
  • Provide executive-level reporting and portfolio insight, ensuring senior stakeholders have an accurate view of programme health, risks, dependencies, financial performance and delivery status.
  • Oversee portfolio governance, challenging delivery teams where required to improve quality, consistency and decision-making.
  • Manage portfolio financials including budgeting, forecasting, cost tracking and third-party spend reporting.
  • Coordinate portfolio resource planning, demand forecasting and capacity management across multiple programmes.
  • Facilitate cross-programme dependency management, ensuring key milestones and deliverables remain aligned.
  • Lead, coach and develop the PMO community, driving consistency and continuous improvement across governance and reporting standards.
  • Build strong relationships across the CIO organisation, influencing Programme Directors and senior stakeholders to support successful portfolio delivery.

Key Experience Required of the Head of PMO:

  • Proven experience leading a PMO across large, complex technology portfolios with annual budgets of £20m+.
  • Experience operating within a CIO or enterprise technology environment, supporting multiple programmes and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong financial management experience including portfolio budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
  • Demonstrable experience producing executive-level reporting and presenting meaningful management information to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of portfolio governance, risk, issue, dependency and change management.
  • Experience working across multiple concurrent technology or infrastructure transformation programmes.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the confidence and gravitas to influence and challenge senior leadership.
  • Experience leading PMO teams or communities of practice, driving consistency across portfolio delivery.
  • Previous experience within financial services or other highly regulated environments would be advantageous.
