Vanguard is seeking an accomplished Head of Portfolio Analytics & Consulting to lead and evolve its portfolio analytics and investment consulting capability across Europe. This is an opportunity to shape how Vanguard develops and delivers portfolio insights, investment analysis, and strategic portfolio advice to clients, prospects, and internal stakeholders.

The Role

Are you an experienced investment leader with a passion for translating sophisticated investment analytics into actionable portfolio decisions, towards better client outcomes?

Vanguard is seeking an accomplished Head of Portfolio Analytics & Consulting to lead and evolve its portfolio analytics and investment consulting capability across Europe. This is an opportunity to shape how Vanguard develops and delivers portfolio insights, investment analysis, and strategic portfolio advice to clients, prospects, and internal stakeholders.

As the leader of Portfolio Analytics & Consulting, you will define the function’s strategy, priorities, and service offering – including in relation to the tech stack powering its delivery. You will lead a team of investment professionals responsible for delivering high-quality portfolio analysis and investment consultations across a broad range of client needs. Working at the intersection of Investments, Product, Distribution, and Client Strategy, you will ensure that the team’s capabilities support Vanguard’s commercial priorities, strengthen client relationships, and contribute to better investor outcomes.

This highly visible leadership role combines people leadership, investment expertise, deep analytical knowledge, strategic thinking, operational oversight, stakeholder influence, and significant client engagement. It offers the opportunity to build a scalable and differentiated consulting capability and make a meaningful impact across Vanguard’s European business.

In this role you will

  • Leads and develops Vanguard’s Portfolio Analytics & Consulting capability across Europe, setting the vision, strategy, priorities, and service model to meet evolving client and business needs.
  • Leads and develops a high-performing team of investment analysts and consultants, including hiring, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and talent development.
  • Enhances Vanguard’s portfolio analytics, investment consulting, and client support capabilities by evolving service offerings and leveraging data, analytical tools, and technology to improve quality, scalability, and efficiency.
  • Provides strategic portfolio insights and investment expertise to senior clients and prospects, translating complex analysis into clear and actionable recommendations.
  • Oversees the delivery of portfolio analytics and investment consulting services, ensuring high-quality analysis across asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk, performance, and investment products.
  • Leads strategic initiatives and governance activities related to analytical frameworks, investment recommendations, risk oversight, and service enhancement, providing recommendations to senior management and governance forums.
  • Establish appropriate standards, governance, and quality controls for analytical methodologies, client deliverables, and investment recommendations, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and effective management of risk.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders across Investments, Product, Distribution, Marketing, Risk, Compliance, Technology, and Operations, fostering collaboration and alignment on strategic priorities.

What it takes

  • University degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field with a strong quantitative focus.
  • Significant experience (15y+) in investment management, investment consulting, portfolio analysis, portfolio construction, or a related discipline, with a strong understanding of capital markets, asset allocation, and investment products.
  • Proven experience engaging with institutional, intermediary, or wealth management clients.
  • Demonstrated people leadership experience, including building, developing, and leading high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to define strategy, set priorities, and lead complex cross-functional initiatives in a matrix organization.
  • Strong stakeholder management, governance, and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, build alignment, assess risks, and provide clear recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders, clients, and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in one or more European languages in addition to English is preferred to support client engagement across European markets.

  • This is a hybrid position and would require you to work in the office 3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday)
