I'm partnered with an expanding institutional investment firm as they look to recruit a Head of Portfolio Implementation. This is a role that offers considerably more than the title might suggest as this is a newly created position that sits at the crossroads of PM, Investment and Ops.
Our client has invested heavily in its infrastructure over recent years and now, as the complexity and scale of its investment offering continues to grow, we're looking for someone to bring the portfolio implementation function together, establish the framework and shape how it operates going forward.
Ultimately, the incumbent will be the person who understands what the investment team wants to achieve and how to actually make it happen.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
We're looking for someone with genuine institutional portfolio implementation experience, ideally within a multi-asset and pension investment environment and who understands the investment thinking behind the portfolios as well as the practicalities of implementing them.
To be considered, you must have exposure to:
- Multi-Asset
- Portfolio Implementation
- LDI
- ALM
- DB Pensions
- Portfolio Management Systems
So why this role?
This is an opportunity to build rather than inherit.
The business already has experienced investment and operations teams, but the implementation activity currently sits across several individuals. This role will bring that together into a dedicated function so you will be creating the processes as well as the governance and infrastructure that will support the next stage of growth.

If you're currently working across portfolio implementation, multi-asset investment, LDI/ALM or institutional pensions and would be interested in a role where you can genuinely shape the function rather than simply step into an established structure, I'd be very interested to review your CV!
