Head of IT Portfolio
Up to £90,000
Hybrid working in York or Leeds
WRK digital is delighted to be partnering with a well-known and highly respected organisation to recruit a Head of IT Portfolio.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced IT Portfolio leader to take ownership of a significant technology change portfolio, leading the successful delivery of projects and programmes that support business transformation across a large and complex environment.
Offering a salary of up to £90,000 plus an excellent benefits package, this role would suit someone who thrives on bringing structure, governance and strategic direction to technology delivery.
The Role
As Head of IT Portfolio, you'll lead the project management function, overseeing the delivery of a diverse portfolio of IT projects and programmes while managing and developing a team of Project Managers.
You'll work closely with senior technology and business stakeholders to ensure projects are prioritised effectively, resources are aligned to demand, and delivery remains on track. This is a highly visible leadership position where you'll have real influence over how technology change is governed and delivered.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of Project Managers and delivery professionals.
- Own portfolio governance, reporting, prioritisation and resource planning.
- Drive best practice across project and programme delivery.
- Manage stakeholder relationships across technology, business leadership and third-party suppliers.
- Oversee project budgets, risks, change control and delivery performance.
- Ensure projects are initiated effectively with clear scope, requirements and accountability.
- Champion continuous improvement and a high-performance delivery culture.
About You
We're keen to speak with experienced:
- IT Portfolio Managers
- Heads of PMO
- Senior Programme Managers
- Technology Delivery Leaders
You'll bring:
- A proven track record managing complex IT project and programme portfolios.
- Experience leading and developing Project Managers.
- Strong governance, demand management and prioritisation expertise.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior leadership level.
- Experience delivering large-scale technology change and transformation initiatives.
