Exciting Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Post Production, based on-site in Holywood and responsible for leading and overseeing all post-production operations across our slate of factual series and documentaries. This role involves managing the post-production team, scheduling and supervising edits, ensuring that all projects meet broadcast technical standards, and maintaining consistent quality and style across output.

The Head of Post Production will coordinate workflows from ingest to delivery, collaborate closely with producers, directors, and production managers, and liaise with external facilities and suppliers as needed. Day-to-day responsibilities include optimizing post-production processes, troubleshooting technical and creative issues, guiding the implementation of motion graphics and finishing, and ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.

The role also includes mentoring team members, implementing best practices, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the company’s post-production capabilities.

Responsibilities

Editing, Colour Grading and Delivery

  • Undertake online and offline editing and colour grading using Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere Pro, and DaVinci Resolve, ensuring all content is produced to a consistently high standard.

Adobe Creative Cloud

  • Experience using additional Adobe Creative Cloud applications, particularly After Effects and Photoshop, is desirable.

File-Based Delivery

  • Manage the end-to-end file-based delivery process. Use Vidchecker to ensure master programmes comply with AS-11 and all relevant broadcaster specifications.

Codec and Audio Management

  • Apply advanced knowledge of codecs, file formats, and audio processing to deliver content across multiple platforms, including review services such as Vimeo and Frame.io, as well as broadcast delivery.

Scheduling and Organisation

  • Maintain a detailed post-production schedule, ensuring projects are completed efficiently, accurately, and within often demanding deadlines.

Technical Support and Systems Management

  • Oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of post-production systems. The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of computer networking, hardware maintenance, software updates, and system performance.

Problem-Solving

  • Identify and resolve technical issues quickly and effectively, minimizing disruption and ensuring production standards and deadlines are maintained.

Workflow Development

  • Regularly review and improve internal workflows, identifying opportunities to streamline post-production processes and increase efficiency.

Communication and Coordination

  • Coordinate effectively with internal teams, production management, and external stakeholders, ensuring all parties remain informed and aligned throughout the production process.

Independent Working and Multitasking

  • Work proactively and independently while managing multiple projects simultaneously, adjusting priorities as production requirements change.
