Interim Head of Procurement

Location: London/Hybrid
Contract Duration: 6 months
Rate: Day rate from £800 via Umbrella Company

About the Client

My client is one of the largest financial institutions headquartered in Japan, with an established presence across all consumer and corporate banking businesses. Through its subsidiaries and affiliates, they offer a diverse range of financial services, including commercial banking, leasing, securities, credit card, consumer finance and other services.


About the Role

They are looking for an Interim Head of Procurement for the EMEA region to join the Operations Planning and Procurement Department on an initial 6 month contract with the potential to extend. You will be working Monday to Friday, standard office hours with the occasional out of hours requirement in line with business needs, being office based 3 days a week, 2 days working from home.

Purpose of Job

The Interim Head of Procurement, will provide leadership and continuity of the Procurement function during the sabbatical absence of the permanent Head of Procurement. The role is accountable for leading the EMEA Category Management and Supplier Relationship Management teams, ensuring delivery of strategic sourcing, supplier governance, commercial value, and procurement risk management across the region.


Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the EMEA Procurement function, providing strategic leadership to a team of six Category Managers across multiple spend categories.
  • Own category management, strategic sourcing and supplier management activities, driving commercial value, cost optimisation and procurement best practice across the region.
  • Oversee strategic supplier relationships, procurement governance, third-party risk, outsourcing and operational resilience requirements.
  • Partner with Procurement Operations to ensure effective Source-to-Pay processes, controls, reporting and procurement systems governance.
  • Provide leadership on complex technology procurement initiatives, including software, cloud services and major IT supplier engagements.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and represent Procurement at executive, governance and steering committee forums.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Significant procurement leadership experience within banking or financial services, ideally with EMEA responsibility.
  • Proven track record leading category management, strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management functions.
  • Strong understanding of procurement governance, third-party risk, operational resilience, outsourcing and Source-to-Pay processes.
  • Experience managing complex technology procurement, including software, cloud and strategic supplier relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders, lead high-performing teams and deliver commercial outcomes within complex international organisations.
  • Strong stakeholder management able to communicate at all levels of the business.
  • MCIPS qualification or relevant experience.
