HEAD OF PROCUREMENT
West London - 2 Days On Site, 3 From Home - Permanent - Build The Procurement Function
£85,000 - £95,000
Are you a senior procurement leader who wants to own a function rather than inherit one? Do you get more out of building the strategy than working through someone else's flowchart?
Hop To Talent are hiring a Head of Procurement for a group of companies. The group spends roughly £20m to £30m a year with third parties across materials, subcontractors, fleet, insurance and professional services, and it is now building a permanent, in-house procurement function.
There is no complete contracts register and no embedded process waiting for you. The first job is visibility: what the group buys, from whom, on what terms and where the money is leaking.
From there you design the strategy, harmonise suppliers across the business units and build a small team around you.
WISH LIST
- An experienced Procurement leader
- Commercially focused, with a business partnering, problem solving, can do mentality
- Good working knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

THE ROLE
- Build and own the group procurement strategy across every entity and business unit
- Deliver a full spend analysis and category segmentation across works, goods and services
- Develop category strategies for the highest value and highest risk areas, including materials, subcontractors, fleet and insurance
- Harmonise suppliers group wide where it makes commercial sense, rather than running separate arrangements in each company
- Lead high value and complex tenders end to end, from specification and market engagement through to award and mobilisation
- Own compliance with the Procurement Act 2023, including procedure choice, frameworks, dynamic markets and transparency obligations
- Build and maintain a single, accurate contracts register with renewal, break and expiry dates actively managed
- Rewrite and embed procurement policy, thresholds, delegated authorities and approval routes so they are workable rather than bureaucratic
- Introduce contract management after award, including KPIs, service reviews and enforcement of agreed rates
- Close the gap between committed spend and what actually gets paid, so procurement is linked to the numbers rather than sitting offline
- Identify and deliver savings on addressable spend, and work with Finance to make sure they land in budgets
- Design, recruit and lead a small permanent team, and report on procurement to the leadership team and boards
