Head of Procurement Glasgow | Permanent | £70,000+ benefits
Alexander Steele Recruitment is working with a growing FMCG Wholesaler in Glasgow to appoint an experienced Head of Procurement.
This is a senior, commercially focused opportunity for a procurement leader who can take ownership of strategy, strengthen supplier relationships and drive significant improvements in margin, efficiency, and procurement performance.
The Role
Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will lead and develop the procurement function, with responsibility for:
- Developing and delivering the overall procurement strategy
- Leading and developing a high-performing buying team
- Negotiating key supplier agreements, pricing, rebates, and trading terms
- Driving category strategy across chilled, frozen, and ambient products
- Identifying new sourcing and commercial opportunities
- Improving procurement systems, data, reporting, and KPIs
- Building strong strategic relationships with suppliers and manufacturing partners
- Working closely with Sales, Finance, Operations, and Marketing to maximize commercial opportunities
- Providing senior leadership with market insight, commercial analysis, and procurement recommendations

About You
We are looking for an experienced procurement professional with a strong commercial track record, ideally gained within FMCG, foodservice, wholesale, or food manufacturing. You will have:
- Proven senior-level procurement or buying leadership experience
- A strong track record of improving margin and commercial performance
- Extensive supplier negotiation and strategic sourcing experience
- Excellent category management and analytical skills
- Experience leading teams and driving change or procurement transformation
- The confidence to challenge, influence, and make commercially sound decisions
- A hands-on, entrepreneurial approach and the ability to operate at senior leadership level

The Opportunity

Salary: circa £70,000 + benefits, dependent on experience.
