Head of Procurement
Up to £72,727 | Central Hertfordshire | Highly Flexible Hybrid
SRM Recruitment is working with a highly regarded organisation in Central Hertfordshire to recruit an experienced Head of Procurement urgently.
This is an urgent senior appointment and our client is open-minded regarding the route to hire, with permanent, interim, temporary and temp-to-perm options all considered.
There is also significant flexibility around working arrangements. Ideally, the successful individual will be able to attend the Hertfordshire office approximately once per week to support the team, although fully remote working may be considered for the right candidate.
Reporting to the Director of Finance & Procurement, you will lead the procurement function and act as the organisation's senior procurement expert. The role combines strategic leadership with hands-on procurement delivery and includes line management responsibility. This role specifically includes leading procurement/tendering activity, procurement policy and compliance, systems and tools, supplier management and delivering cost savings and value for money.

Key Responsibilities
- Leading and developing the procurement function
- Managing procurement and tendering activity
- Developing procurement policies and procedures and ensuring legislative compliance
- Providing expert procurement advice across the organisation
- Leading and developing the procurement team
- Managing and developing supplier relationships
- Driving cost savings, efficiencies and value for money
- Supporting and developing procurement systems and processes
- Building strong relationships with senior internal stakeholders
- Keeping abreast of developments in procurement law and compliance

About You

We are looking for an experienced procurement leader who can demonstrate:
- MCIPS Qualified
- Significant procurement leadership/management experience
- Strong knowledge of procurement policy, processes, tendering and compliance
- Excellent commercial and stakeholder-management skills
- Experience leading and developing teams
- Strong knowledge of procurement/ERP/tendering systems
- The ability to operate strategically whilst remaining comfortable with hands-on delivery
- Experience within a funding, grants or similar environment would be beneficial but is not essential
The successful person will have relevant management/leadership experience, financial capability to manage substantial budgets and authoritative knowledge of procurement practices and processes.
