About the role
The Head of Product is responsible for the design, governance and lifecycle management of Progeny's product and solution range, ensuring all products manufactured or distributed are appropriately designed, targeted, fairly priced and deliver good client outcomes in line with FCA requirements and Consumer Duty.
This is a dual-hatted role, leading product governance across Progeny Wealth and acting as the senior product lead for Progeny Asset Management (PAM). The role is responsible for oversight of the ACD governance relationship and ensuring Progeny meets its obligations as a product manufacturer across its fund range.
As owner of the product governance framework, the Head of Product is accountable for the Product Governance Committee and for providing oversight, evidence and assurance to demonstrate to the Board and regulators that products continue to meet client needs and remain fit for purpose throughout their lifecycle.
Key Areas of Focus
Progeny Wealth Product Governance
Own the end-to-end product governance framework across the wealth proposition, including target market identification and review, product approval and change processes, fair value assessments, distribution oversight and ongoing product monitoring supported by MI.
PAM / ACD Governance
Act as the senior product lead for Progeny Asset Management (PAM), owning the governance relationship with the Authorised Corporate Director (ACD). Responsibilities include fund oversight, Assessment of Value activity, share class and pricing reviews, manufacturer obligations under PROD 3, fund documentation management and governance reporting across PAM, the ACD and relevant committees.

Product Strategy and Range Development
Shape the future product roadmap by identifying proposition gaps, rationalising overlapping solutions and developing products that meet client needs while supporting strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead Progeny's product governance framework across Progeny Wealth and PAM, ensuring compliance with PROD, Consumer Duty and COLL requirements.
- Chair the Product Governance Committee, setting agendas, preparing papers and ensuring actions are completed.
- Manage the ACD governance relationship for PAM, including oversight reporting, escalation and Assessment of Value activities.
- Define, document and review target markets, distribution strategies and negative target markets for all products.
- Oversee fair value assessments, ensuring pricing, costs and client benefits are evidenced and defensible.
- Lead production of the Consumer Duty Board Report.
- Oversee product approval, change and withdrawal processes, ensuring appropriate challenge, governance and client communication.
- Develop and maintain product MI, monitoring performance and client outcomes while escalating concerns where necessary.
- Manage relationships with external product, platform and fund providers, ensuring agreed governance and service standards are met.
- Provide clear reporting and escalation to the Director of Client Proposition, the PAM Board and relevant governance committees.
- Lead, coach and support the Product Manager and wider product team.

Our ideal person
Essential criteria
- Significant product or product governance experience within UK financial services, ideally across both wealth management and asset management.
- Strong knowledge of FCA PROD rules, Consumer Duty and product governance requirements for both manufacturers and distributors.
- Experience operating within ACD, AFM or fund governance environments, including Assessment of Value and fund oversight.
- Proven ability to design, implement and maintain a product governance framework able to withstand regulatory and Board scrutiny.
- Strong commercial judgement with experience assessing pricing, costs and fair value.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with credibility at Board and committee level.
Desirable criteria
- Experience working across multiple regulated entities or within a dual-hatted governance role.
- Relevant professional qualification such as IMC, CFA, Chartered Financial Planner or equivalent.
- Experience of fund or product rationalisation, share class consolidation or platform migration programmes.
- Familiarity with both investment governance and advice governance environments.
