Head of Product / Lead Product Manager - B2C Marketplace Startup
£80,000–£100,000 + meaningful equity | London/Hybrid
We're working with a high-growth, VC-backed consumer subscription marketplace that's approaching Series A.
The commercial engine is already working. What's missing is a product leader to take ownership of the technology roadmap and make the business genuinely product-led.
This is the first senior product hire for the company.
To be clear about what it is and isn't: this is a hands-on Head of Product role, not a CTO appointment, though there's a credible path to CTO-level responsibility as the business scales.
What you'd own
- You'd take an early AI-enabled visualisation tool from working prototype to market-ready commercial product.
- Beyond that, you'd own product across the full consumer journey: acquisition and conversion, subscription and billing, the marketplace experience, and the fulfilment and logistics layer that sits behind it, along with the internal tooling the operation runs on.
- You'd also define what the product and engineering function needs to look like as the company grows, then help build it.
- You'd work directly with the founders and be visible to investors and the board - past experience working with business owners/key stakeholders is critical for this hire.

- You're an entrepreneurial product leader who has built a function from scratch rather than inherited one.
- You set direction and hold a standard, and you're comfortable making decisions on incomplete information in an early-stage business.
- You've built B2C subscription or marketplace products, so you think in terms of retention, lifetime value and repeat behaviour rather than one-off transactions.
- You'll also have dealt with the operational reality behind a physical-world proposition: fulfilment, logistics, and the internal systems that keep it all running.
- You're technically fluent enough to be credible with engineers, to assess an existing systems landscape and say honestly what's worth keeping, and to translate commercial goals into platform priorities.
- You don't need to be writing the code, but you do need to hold your own in the detail.
- Your AI fluency is practical rather than theoretical. This team uses AI heavily in how it works, so you'll need real examples of applying it in product and in your own process, not a list of tools you've read about.
- You're also comfortable in front of founders, investors and a board, presenting a plan and defending it.
- Your background is likely to include one or more of:
- B2C marketplaces
- Subscription or recurring-revenue businesses
- Circular commerce or rental models
- Logistics-tech
- Proptech
- Early-stage, VC-backed startups (Seed to Series A)
