ROLE OVERVIEW
The Head of Product owns the quality, consistency, and commercial impact of everything ConversionWise delivers to its Growth clients. This is not a testing lead or a methodology owner. This is a senior commercial operator who understands ecommerce deeply, backs their own judgement, and builds a team that does the same.
The right person for this role believes that visible impact delivered fast beats a perfect testing programme delivered slowly. They are as comfortable talking about offer strategy, subscription mechanics, and paid traffic performance as they are about conversion rate optimisation. They lead by example, set a high bar for strategic thinking across the team, and are obsessed with making clients feel the value of the partnership every single month.
They are also a product thinker. They understand that how ConversionWise packages, prices, and delivers its programmes is as important as the quality of the work itself. They want to shape the product, not just run it.
Reports to: Head of Operations
Direct reports: Growth Strategists
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Growth Delivery and Strategic Quality
- Own the quality and commercial impact of every client programme across the Growth division. Ensure every client has a clear, prioritised roadmap built around the highest-impact opportunities in their specific funnel, not a generic methodology applied regardless of context.
- Enforce the impact-first delivery model across the team. The default for most clients is build first, implement fast, and measure honestly. Experimentation is introduced progressively where traffic and context support it.
- Hold the brief quality gate for every early deliverable. No brief goes to design or development without Head of Growth Product sign-off that it meets the required standard.
- Review and approve the validation approach for every significant piece of work, whether direct implementation, directional signal testing, or full statistical testing, based on the client's profile and traffic volume.
- Ensure research is running in parallel for every client from day one. Post-purchase surveys, customer surveys, and user testing should inform the roadmap from month two onwards for every engagement.
Product and Positioning
- Own the ongoing definition and evolution of ConversionWise's Growth product. This includes how programmes are structured, how tiers are defined, what each programme includes, how scope is managed, and how the product is communicated to clients and prospects.
- The Head of Growth Product is not just responsible for delivery quality, they are responsible for ensuring the product itself is commercially compelling, clearly differentiated, and consistently delivered.
- Shape how ConversionWise's delivery is productised through Optimo (proprietary AI tool). This role plays a central part in defining what data is captured, how programmes are structured within the platform, and how Optimo becomes a tangible part of the client experience rather than purely an internal tool.
- Work with the Head of Operations and leadership to review programme packaging, pricing inputs, and scope boundaries as the business evolves. The product should never drift from what clients actually need or what the team can genuinely deliver.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Team Leadership and Development
- Hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team of Growth Strategists, Designers, and Copywriters. Set a clear bar for what great looks like at every level and hold the team to it consistently.
- Build and maintain the ConversionWise Growth playbook, the prescriptive frameworks, scenario libraries, diagnostic tools, and brief templates that allow every team member to deliver at the standard the business expects regardless of seniority.
- Conduct weekly strategist check-ins focused on programme quality, roadmap direction, and commercial impact, not task completion.
- Develop less experienced strategists into confident, independent operators who can run a client programme with minimal oversight. Identify and address skill gaps early.
Programme Oversight and Retention
- Monitor the health of every client programme across the division. Ensure no client goes more than two weeks without something live or in active client review.
- Review the delivery mix across all clients monthly to ensure it is relevant and impactful. Flag any clients where the mix is unbalanced or not effective.
- Lead the Quarterly Business Review for higher tier clients. Use programme history explicitly, the QBR should demonstrate compounding value over time, not just report on recent activity.
- Identify clients at risk of churn before the AM does. The Head of Growth Product should have a commercial read on every client in the portfolio and be able to articulate the health of each programme at any time.
Commercial and Product Development
- Continuously evolve the growth delivery model based on what is working and what is not. Bring structured recommendations to leadership rather than waiting to be asked.
- Stay ahead of ecommerce trends, platform changes, and emerging growth tactics. The team should always feel like they are learning from their leader, not the other way around.
- Own the subscription brand diagnostic path, the scenario library, and the contingency frameworks. These are living documents that improve with every client engagement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Head of Client Success to ensure strategic direction and client communication are always aligned. When a client escalates a concern about results or direction, the Head of Growth Product owns the strategic response.
- Work closely with the Head of Development to ensure briefs are clear, complete, and actionable before they reach the development queue. Technical QA and bug prevention sits with the Head of Development, poor handoffs are a quality failure, not a development problem.
- Support the sales process when needed, joining calls for high-value prospects, reviewing proposals, and ensuring what is sold reflects what can genuinely be delivered.

THE RIGHT PERSON
- Has deep ecommerce expertise and can diagnose a brand's biggest growth opportunity within 30 minutes of looking at their store and their data.
- Leads with commercial judgement not process. Knows when to build, when to test, and when to do something completely different, and can explain why clearly.
- Has managed and developed a team of strategists or similar roles before and has strong opinions about what good looks like.
- Is energised by pace and visibility. Comfortable in an environment where results are measured monthly and the bar is always moving.
- Communicates with clarity and confidence, with the team, with clients when needed, and with leadership.
- Is excited by the opportunity to shape how a proprietary platform evolves alongside the product. Has a view on what great looks like from a client-facing technology perspective and can translate that into practical product direction.
- Believes that the best growth work is invisible to the client. They do not see a methodology or a process. They see their business growing and they feel the partnership behind it.
WHAT THIS PERSON IS NOT
- Not a pure testing specialist who measures success by test velocity and win rate alone. The role requires a broader commercial and product view than that.
- Not primarily an individual contributor. The expectation is leadership first, doing second. Someone who is more comfortable doing the work than leading the team will struggle in this role.
- Not someone who is energised by stability. This is a role in a business that is actively evolving its product, its platform, and its delivery model. The right person sees that as opportunity, not uncertainty.
