Youth Action

📍 Lancashire (with travel across sites)
💼 Permanent | Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
⏰ Part-time considered (minimum 25 hours per week)
💷 £40,000–£50,000 per annum (dependent on experience)

For 27 years, Youth Action has empowered young people to build confidence, resilience and brighter futures. We deliver high-quality youth work across Lancashire and have worked in 34 countries worldwide, supporting thousands of young people every year through innovative programmes and partnerships.

We're now looking for an exceptional leader to help shape the next chapter of our journey.

About the Role

This is a newly created senior leadership opportunity with genuine scope to make your mark.

As Head of Programmes, you'll lead the strategic development and delivery of our youth work services, ensuring they are safe, innovative and deliver meaningful outcomes for young people aged 11–25, particularly those facing disadvantage.

You'll provide leadership to staff and volunteers, oversee programme quality and safeguarding, develop partnerships, support income generation, and play a key role in delivering our organisational strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines strategic thinking with operational excellence.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Significant experience leading youth work services or programmes.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Experience managing budgets and delivering funded projects.
  • A passion for improving outcomes for young people.
  • Excellent partnership-building and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion.
  • The ability to inspire teams and drive continuous improvement.
