Design the Hydraulic Engineering Behind Some of the World's Most Prestigious Infrastructure Projects
Are you an experienced hydraulic design engineer who still enjoys being hands-on? Do you thrive on solving complex engineering challenges rather than simply managing people? Would you like to see your designs become part of landmark infrastructure projects that leave a lasting legacy?
Flowtech's Major Projects Division has built an enviable global reputation for designing and delivering complex industrial hydraulic systems for major infrastructure projects across the UK and internationally.
Our portfolio includes internationally recognised projects such as St George's Bridge, Bermuda, together with the €102 million Narrow Water Bridge, one of Europe's most exciting cross-border infrastructure projects.
Due to continued growth, we're looking to appoint an experienced Head of Project Design to lead the design of our industrial hydraulic and MEICA projects.
While you'll lead the design function, this remains a genuinely hands-on engineering position. We're looking for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, solving technical challenges and remaining actively involved in the engineering design process.
You'll work alongside an experienced team of engineers, taking ownership of the hydraulic design on multiple high-value projects from concept through to commissioning.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
