Head of Project Delivery
We’re working with an established organisation in Newcastle that is looking for an experienced Head of Project Delivery to lead its project management function.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of complex web, digital and software projects, while driving high standards across project planning, commercial performance, client relationships and team development.
You’ll work closely with senior leaders across creative, technology, UX and operations, leading the project management team and ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a consistently high standard.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the overall project management function.
- Develop reliable project plans with clear visibility of timelines, budgets and resources.
- Establish and continuously improve project management methodologies, processes and procedures.
- Implement effective project reporting and documentation.
- Monitor project performance and ensure standards are maintained throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Work with department leads to effectively plan resources across digital delivery teams.
- Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
- Work closely with clients and internal teams to understand requirements and create effective delivery plans.
- Support the sales process with accurate project costing and pricing prior to delivery.
- Lead constructive project meetings and proactively resolve issues.
- Identify and mitigate delivery risks as projects evolve.
- Balance excellent client outcomes with project profitability.
- Work with senior leaders to create multidisciplinary teams capable of delivering complex projects for larger clients.
- Lead, coach and develop the project management team.
- Create a high-performance environment focused on effective delivery and excellent communication.
- Hold regular 1:1s and support individual development and career progression.
- Oversee the direction, workload and output of the project management team.
- Drive the effective adoption of project management tools, systems and processes across the business.
- Project profitability and successful completion within agreed timescales and budgets.
- Client retention and satisfaction.
- Identifying opportunities to expand existing projects and drive additional commercial value.

Requirements:

- 3+ years’ experience in a project management leadership role
- Experience delivering website and app development projects.
- Strong knowledge of the software development lifecycle and digital platform technologies.
- A proven track record of developing and implementing processes that improve project delivery.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience delivering successful, profitable projects.
- Experience using project planning and tracking platforms such as Jira.
- Previous people management experience with strong communication and leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, including reporting commercial and project performance to senior leadership teams.
- A Project Management qualification such as PRINCE2, PMI or APM.
- Scrum Master certification would be advantageous.
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Business or Management would also be desirable.
