Our Property Team is based in Paulton (near Bath/Bristol), but work across the UK, to provide support to our 65+ bakeries across the country. We have ambitious plans to accelerate our growth and open new bakeries, whilst maintaining our existing bakeries to a high standard.

About the role:

We’re looking for an experienced Head of Property (perhaps also known as a Head of Estates or Head of Facilities) to take overall responsibility for leading the property department, devising and delivering the property strategy and managing the department budget.

This will include new site construction, refurbishment, ongoing PPM and reactive maintenance, managing contractors, asset management and health and safety compliance, to ensure the property department deliver great service and support to all the bakeries.

As a head of department in Cornish Bakery, you will be a key member of the senior leadership team, working with other Directors and HODs, leading projects and delivering change in our fast-growing business.

As Head of Property your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Inspire, motivate and lead the property team and champion our culture across Cornish Bakery
  • Develop a property strategy that supports our core values and vision, maintaining high standards in the bakeries and supports expansion and growth
  • Continually review the performance, condition and suitability of the bakeries, making recommendations for investment and refurbishments
  • For new openings, ensure property due diligence, surveys, capital expenditure assessments are completed, presenting capital budgets to the board for sign-off
  • Lead effective ways of working for the property team and operations to ensure any bakery premises and equipment issues are resolved promptly to minimise impact to the bakery team and customer
  • Lead PPM programmes, compliance schedules and asset lifecycle plans. Oversee the compliance register, ensuring all inspections, certifications, testing and remedial actions are completed
  • Establish a preferred supplier framework, with high-quality contractors who can respond promptly to issues in the bakery across the country
  • Ensure the property team are supporting the operations team on the required standard for premises and equipment regular maintenance, cleaning and standards
  • Manage the department P&L, ensuring accurate budgeting and phasing, making adjustment to remain within the agreed budget
  • Be accountable for all property-related statutory compliance, ensuring all properties, equipment and systems are maintained, tested and certified

What we are looking for:

  • A passion for Cornish Bakery purpose and values
  • Exceptional people leadership and communication skills
  • Proven experience in property management in multi-site hospitality, retail or leisure
  • Experience leading refurbishment and new site opening programmes
  • Strong contractor and supplier management experience
  • Knowledge of building compliance and health & safety legislation
  • Demonstrable leadership experience
  • Budget management and capital expenditure experience
  • Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills
  • Full UK driving licence and able to travel to bakeries average of one day a week
