Description
As Head of Property & Maintenance, you will lead the team responsible for the day-to-day care, maintenance and ongoing improvement of properties across Our Estate. You will ensure the team is well organised, responsive and focused on maintaining the high standards expected across the Club, while supporting departments and minimising disruption to members and guests. You will also oversee refurbishment and improvement projects, working with the team, contractors and specialist suppliers to ensure work is well planned, coordinated and completed to our exacting standards.
Alongside the day-to-day operation, we are looking for someone who is proactive, forward-thinking and with an eye for detail. You will take pride in understanding the condition of our properties, spotting potential issues early and planning ahead for future maintenance and improvement. You will bring initiative, sound judgement and a solutions-focused approach, while involving and developing the team and building strong working relationships across the Club.
About The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the day-to-day Property & Maintenance operation, ensuring all properties and associated infrastructure across Our Estate are maintained safely, efficiently and to the exceptional standards expected across the Club.
- Ensuring the team provides reliable and responsive maintenance support across the estate, responding effectively to day-to-day requirements and helping departments continue to operate smoothly.
- Leading, developing and supporting the Property & Maintenance team, providing clear direction while involving the team in planning, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
- Planning and prioritising workloads effectively, balancing responsive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance and larger property projects.
- Taking a forward thinking approach to the estate, understanding the condition of our properties and infrastructure and identifying future maintenance, renewal and improvement requirements.
- Developing practical plans and maintenance programmes that help prevent issues, improve reliability and support the long term care of the estate.
- Overseeing refurbishment, property improvement and significant maintenance projects from initial planning through to completion.
- Coordinating internal teams, contractors, consultants and specialist suppliers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to an exceptional standard.
- Taking responsibility for property-related compliance and Health & Safety, ensuring appropriate inspections, testing, servicing, records and maintenance schedules are in place and consistently maintained.
- Managing the Property & Maintenance budget.
- Building and maintaining strong working relationships with suppliers, contractors and specialist partners.
- Maintaining a visible presence across the estate, building strong relationships with colleagues and understanding the operational needs of different departments.
- Ensuring the Property & Maintenance team is approachable, well connected and communicates clearly with colleagues across the Club.

About You
We are looking for someone with strong Property and Maintenance experience, sound technical knowledge and the ability to lead people and projects while maintaining the standards expected at Skibo.
You will have:
- A strong practical and technical understanding of the trades and disciplines involved in maintaining, repairing and refurbishing buildings.
- Experience leading or overseeing a busy maintenance operation, including planned maintenance and responsive day-to-day works.
- Experience in a senior property management role with a background in the construction sector and a solid understanding of relevant legislation, regulations and technical building management knowledge are essential for this role.
- Experience planning and delivering refurbishment, property improvement and significant maintenance and capital projects.
- The ability to plan ahead, prioritise work and manage several competing requirements at the same time.
- Experience managing budgets and monitoring costs.
- Confidence working with contractors, consultants, specialist suppliers and external trades, including selecting the right suppliers, agreeing costs and ensuring work is completed to the required standard.
- A strong understanding of statutory compliance, Health & Safety and the requirements associated with maintaining buildings, plant and infrastructure.
- Experience developing effective planned preventative maintenance and inspection programmes.
- An understanding of energy efficiency, sustainability and the long-term management of buildings and infrastructure.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to maintain clear and accurate records, plans and maintenance information.

- Understands the importance of discretion, attention to detail and minimising disruption within a private members’ Club.
- Takes pride in maintaining exceptional standards while continually looking for better ways of doing things.
Desirables:
- Experience in managing historic properties, contract management and building management systems is desirable.
- A degree is Facilities Management, Engineering or Property Management is desirable.
