WillU Group is seeking an experienced, commercially driven Head of Protection to lead, scale, and develop our protection division as part of the Group’s next phase of growth.

The Opportunity
This is a senior leadership role for an experienced protection professional who combines strong technical knowledge with commercial acumen and leadership capability. The successful candidate will be responsible for growing WillU’s protection business, providing expert advice on complex personal and business protection arrangements, and building a high-performing team underneath them. This role is ideally suited to someone with significant experience advising business owners, directors, and high-net-worth individuals on sophisticated protection planning, who is now looking to build and lead a division capable of substantial growth.
Role Overview
- Location: Hybrid
- Reporting to: Group CEO
- Salary: Competitive salary of circa £80,000, plus bonus with OTE of circa £150,000
Lead the strategic growth of the protection division across personal, family, and business protection.
- Provide expert technical advice on complex protection arrangements for business owners, directors, and high-net-worth clients.
- Build, recruit, train, and develop a high-performing protection team.
- Develop strong referral relationships with professional introducers and wider Group businesses.
- Maintain exceptional advice standards, ensuring all business is completed in line with FCA requirements and internal quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities
- Division growth and strategy: Develop and execute the strategic growth plan, drive revenue through direct advice, referrals, and introducer relationships, and identify opportunities across the wider WillU client base.
- Technical protection advice: Lead on complex cases including Key Person Protection, Shareholder Protection, Relevant Life Policies, Executive Income Protection, Business Loan Protection, Inheritance Tax Planning, Trust Planning, High Sum Assured Life Cover, Family Protection Planning, and complex medical underwriting cases.
- Team leadership: Recruit, train, and develop advisers and support staff, create a high-performance culture, set clear KPIs, and establish a scalable advice process to support future growth.
- Professional partnerships: Build strong relationships with accountants, solicitors, tax advisers, estate planners, wealth managers, and corporate finance professionals to generate high-quality opportunities.
- Insurer relationships: Maintain close relationships with leading providers, negotiate support on complex underwriting cases, and ensure WillU remains at the forefront of market developments.
- Compliance and quality: Maintain exceptional advice standards, support T&C and adviser competence, and promote best practice across all customer interactions.
Experience and Qualifications
- Minimum 7+ years’ experience advising on protection solutions.
- Strong track record managing complex business protection cases.
- Extensive experience dealing with high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and directors.
- Deep understanding of trusts, underwriting, protection planning, and high-value client relationship management.
- Strong commercial awareness with a clear revenue growth mindset.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Highly desirable: previous leadership experience, experience scaling a protection team, an existing professional introducer network, and relevant qualifications such as CF6, CeMAP, DipFA, or equivalent.

- Increasing WillU’s profile as a recognised specialist in business protection and complex personal protection planning.
