Your Role

Lavington School is looking for someone who can teach and lead the A level course for Year 12 and 13. An ability or interest in teaching science (for example at KS3) would be desirable but certainly not essential. A level psychology is a popular A level option, and we are looking for a talented and inspirational teacher to lead the subject. The successful candidate will deliver engaging, high-quality teaching, create a positive and inclusive learning environment, and contribute to excellent outcomes for students across the school. Working within a supportive and collaborative team, you will play a key role in curriculum development, assessment, quality assurance, and the continual improvement of teaching and learning. We are looking for a qualified teacher with strong subject knowledge, a proven ability to motivate learners, and a commitment to high standards of achievement and behaviour. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-achieving and forward-thinking school that values professional development and innovation in education. Lavington School offers a welcoming and nurturing environment where students thrive academically and personally, supported by strong partnerships between home, school, and the wider community. In return, we offer excellent professional development opportunities, a competitive salary with TLR, and the chance to contribute to the wider work of EQUA Mead Learning Trust. As a member of staff within our Trust, you will contribute to a collaborative working environment and play a key role in supporting the learning and development of all pupils.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
