Head of Site Manufacturing Quality
A leading Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) provider is looking for an experienced Head of Site Manufacturing Quality to join its growing team at a world-class manufacturing facility.
Supporting high-reliability customers across advanced sectors including space, defence, transport, motorsport, audio, and instrumentation, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal role in driving manufacturing excellence across a fast-paced, high-tech production environment.
The Role
Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will own and lead quality execution across the live manufacturing floor. Your primary mission will be to shift quality from a lagging inspection metric to a proactive, shop-floor driving force.
Managing the site quality engineering and control teams, you will embed robust process controls directly into our SMT and assembly lines, bridging the gap between compliance documentation and hands-on manufacturing performance to ensure zero-defect delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Shop-Floor Quality Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the site Manufacturing Quality engineering and inspection teams, fostering a visible, quality-first culture on the production floor.
- In-Process Controls & NPI: Partner with Manufacturing Engineering to build robust process controls into the line, implementing APQP, FMEAs, Control Plans, and PPAP from New Product Introduction (NPI) through to volume manufacturing.
- Defect Elimination & Root Cause: Lead rapid-response root cause analysis for live line failures and components, utilising structured 8D methodologies to aggressively reduce PPMs, scrap, rework, and the overall Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
- High-Reliability Compliance: Maintain continuous audit readiness and operational compliance with ISO9001 and AS9100 standards, ensuring PCBA and assembly processes meet strict defence, space, and aerospace criteria.
- Supplier & Customer Alignment: Action manufacturing non-conformances upstream with suppliers and lead technical quality resolutions downstream with high-value customers.
- Daily KPIs & Continuous Improvement: Establish, track, and report on real-time manufacturing quality metrics (e.g., First Time Yield, Scrap Rates) to drive continuous improvement projects across assembly and fabrication.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
