As a Twinings Supply Chain team, our mission is to create value through agility and great partnerships to ensure that we are catalysts for growth for the business and we continue to delight our consumers. The Head of Quality & Food Safety will create, implement and maintain fit for purpose end-to-end quality assurance/control and food safety systems to protect our consumers and brands. The role requires an in-depth understanding and proactive involvement in each step of product development and supply chain, demonstrating the technical knowledge and critical thinking abilities to enhance the quality of our finished goods and to prevent or eliminate the potential for food safety issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creates and shapes the vision and strategy for quality and food safety that supports Twinings Supply Chain mission and goals.
  • Leads the quality and food safety agenda across Twinings Manufacturing sites and supervises the Quality within Twinings’ Co-Manufacturing sites, including establishing consistent policies, processes, systems and ways of working that support the overall strategy.
  • Develops and reports appropriate KPIs that monitor the health and cost of quality, ensuring KPIs are visible at all levels within the organisation and that suitable corrective and preventative actions are implemented to address shortfalls.
  • Leads the food recall and crisis management processes.
  • Represents the organisation in technical forums at relevant industry and trade meetings.
  • Promotes a positive culture of quality control and food safety performance with an emphasis on continuous improvement.
  • Develops and executes strategic and tactical quality plans to ensure the vision, strategy and company growth plans are achieved in a compliant manner.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

  • 10+ years’ experience within food quality and safety roles
  • 2+ years in a senior management position holding responsibility for quality management and initiatives, with the ability to manage a multi-disciplinary team
  • Experience in building strong quality and food safety teams and systems
  • Proven track record in challenging the status quo & delivering results with a strong growth mindset
  • Experience of working with senior leadership teams & working in, and influencing, global teams
  • Experience of managing diverse and international teams, with high levels of cultural awareness
  • Experience of delivering results in difficult environments, being highly resilient and embracing change and challenge
