People are central to delivering exceptional policing. As Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary continues to shape its future workforce, we're looking for an experienced and forward-thinking leader to oversee our recruitment, resourcing, and retention function.
This is an opportunity to influence how we attract, develop, and retain talented individuals from all backgrounds, while leading strategic workforce planning to ensure we have the capability, capacity, and skills needed to meet future operational demands.
Working as part of the wider People and Development leadership team, you'll play a key role in shaping workforce strategy, driving innovation, and delivering a positive experience for both candidates and employees.
The Role
As Head of Recruitment, Resourcing, and Retention, you will:
- Develop and deliver workforce attraction, promotion, and retention strategies that support organisational priorities.
- Lead the force's strategic workforce planning approach, using workforce insight, forecasting, and data to ensure the organisation is equipped with the right people, skills, and capabilities to meet current and future requirements.
- Lead the continuous improvement of recruitment and assessment processes, ensuring they remain effective, inclusive, and fit for the future.
- Oversee attraction and marketing activity, using insight and innovation to reach diverse talent pools.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders, external partners, and suppliers.
- Lead and develop specialist teams, creating a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support the organisation's commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, helping to build a workforce that reflects the communities we service.

About You
We're looking for someone who can combine strategic thinking with strong leadership and delivery skills. You'll bring:
- Significant experience leading recruitment, resourcing, retention, or workforce planning functions within a complex organisation.
- Chartered CIPD membership or equivalent professional experience, alongside a Level 7 qualification or equivalent.
- Experience of developing workforce strategies, leading attraction campaigns and delivering organisational change.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate workforce data and insight into strategic decisions.
- A track record of delivering positive change and improving organisational performance through people-focused solutions.
