Role Purpose
The Accounting & Reporting team provides high-quality financial information that supports effective decision-making and ensures all NATS companies meet their financial reporting obligations.
The Head of Reporting leads the production of internal financial reporting across the Group, setting clear standards and providing timely, accurate and insightful information to stakeholders ranging from departmental managers to the Executive and the NATS Board. The role requires the analysis of data and trends, with findings summarised in clear, concise and perceptive commentary that drives business action.
The role combines strong technical expertise with commercial insight, identifying the key drivers of performance, constructively challenging the business and continually improving reporting through best practice, efficient processes and effective use of technology.
As a member of the Accounting & Reporting leadership team, the Head of Reporting helps shape the directorate’s direction, priorities and standards. The role holder will also deputise for the Director, Accounting & Reporting on matters within their area of expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the timely and accurate production of internal financial reporting for the Group, providing clear insight to support informed decision-making.
- Shape, influence and lead the delivery of the next generation of internal financial reporting for the Group.
- Set and continuously improve NATS standards for internal financial reporting, applying best practice and promoting consistency across Finance.
- Lead, coach and develop the Reporting team, setting clear priorities, objectives and performance expectations that create an engaged, high-performing culture.
- Work across Finance and the wider business to identify and explain the key drivers of performance, providing robust, constructive challenge and commercially informed analysis.
- Deliver additional analysis and reporting for external customers and the regulator, as required.
- Manage the production of key non-financial information that accompanies monthly financial reporting.
- Act as the principal point of contact for internal reporting matters, including engagement with external auditors where appropriate.

Essential Skills and Experience
Technical and Professional
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post-qualification experience in management or internal financial reporting.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, identify trends and translate findings into clear, decision-useful insight.
- Excellent written communication skills, including concise and effective commentary on financial performance.
- A strong understanding of reporting best practice, with evidence of delivering continuous improvement, change initiatives or projects.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, influence stakeholders and deliver high-quality outcomes to demanding deadlines.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience of ERP accounting and reporting systems (i.e. Oracle, SAP).
