Head of R&D – Optics/Sensing – Oxfordshire - LM1254

Salary: Competitive

Job Term: Full Time/Permanent

Job Outline:

My client, who is a leading developer of advanced optical, optomechanical and optoelectronic technologies, is now looking for a Head of R&D to join their growing team based in Oxfordshire.

As the Head of R&D, you will manage a small team of engineers focused on developing camera systems, sensors, thermal imaging products, optics and optical systems.

Working on projects from concept to production, you will manage all aspects of engineering resource with the aim of delivering a high-quality product on schedule and to specification.

You will work closely with my client's Optical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Software Engineers and Electronics Engineers as well as the production side of the business to support NPI activities.

Within the role you will project manage all aspects of product development from concept to production. You will also support existing products and contribute to ongoing product development and maintenance, as well as produce and maintain engineering documentation in line with company processes.

Within the role, you will also identify new technologies, materials, and engineering methods that could strengthen future developments.

You will also provide technical support for internal teams and customers.

Qualifications:

It is expected that you will have a degree, or higher in Photonics, Optical Engineering or another relevant engineering or scientific discipline.

Most important is experience in product development in the area of optical products.

Experience with one or more of the following; optical system design, cameras, thermal cameras and payloads would be a great advantage.
