Company Description

Phanes Neurotechnology is a London-based neurotech company developing a closed-loop neuromodulation platform across three product lines: Sentinel, Touch, and Cortex. They are building tools for spinal cord injury, ALS, and epilepsy, governed by a strict neuro-ethical constitution that prioritizes cognitive liberty, mental privacy, and algorithmic transparency.

Job Description

As the first scientific hire at Phanes Neurotechnology, you will build the research function from scratch. You will design rigorous, pre-registered studies that prioritize truth over marketing, analyze complex physiological time series, and establish critical clinical partnerships. This role is for a methodological purist ready to define the scientific foundation of neurotechnology.

Location

London, UK

Why this role is remarkable

  • Build a research function from zero as a founding team member, shaping the entire evidence base for a sophisticated multi-product neurotech platform.
  • Work for a company that values "null results" as a mark of research integrity, prioritizing neuro-ethics and scientific honesty over marketing hype.
  • Drive impact across high-stakes clinical targets including spinal cord injury, ALS, and refractory epilepsy using cutting-edge closed-loop neuromodulation technology.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
