Legal Director / Head of Residential Conveyancing – Brierley Hill – Senior Level – Competitive Salary + Hybrid
A leading West Midlands law firm is looking to recruit a Legal Director to head up its residential conveyancing team. The role is based at the firm's modern offices at Waterfront Business Park, Brierley Hill.

Offering hybrid working, genuine flexibility and a values-led culture built around care, excellence and long-term relationships, this role is ideal for an experienced leader seeking real influence and autonomy rather than another caseload-only position.
The Role
- Leading, managing and developing the residential conveyancing team
- Overseeing a varied range of property transactions including freehold, leasehold, new build and shared ownership
- Providing technical guidance and support on complex matters
- Ensuring regulatory compliance and maintaining high professional standards throughout the team
- Monitoring team performance, capacity and service delivery
- Building and maintaining relationships with clients, introducers and internal stakeholders
- Identifying and implementing process and technology improvements
- Supporting and driving the financial performance of the department
- Contributing to wider firm strategy and leading change within the team

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
