Head of Resourcing
Hybrid Working (Minimum 2 Days On Site)
The University of Surrey is entering an exciting new phase of growth and is seeking an experienced, strategic, and forward-thinking Head of Resourcing to shape the future of talent acquisition across the institution.
Following a period of renewed financial stability, the appointment of a new Vice-Chancellor, and an ambitious growth agenda, the University is rebuilding its resourcing capability to ensure it can continue attracting exceptional talent across both academic and professional services functions. This is not a traditional recruitment management role.
This is an opportunity to join the HR Leadership Team and lead the evolution of a modern, data-driven, and strategically aligned resourcing function within one of the UK's leading universities.
The Opportunity
Working closely with senior leaders, Executive Board members, and the HR Director, you will take ownership of the University's resourcing strategy and play a pivotal role in supporting organisational growth.
You'll have the autonomy to influence how talent acquisition is delivered, improve recruitment processes, develop workforce planning capability, and build talent pipelines that support long-term business objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
