Head of Retail Estate and Operations

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Head of Retail Estate and Operations, which includes our COCO, Unmanned and E-mobility businesses, to lead and manage the delivery of our monthly and annual budgeted PBIT. The successful candidate will be responsible for maximizing and achieving weekly volume and margin targets across all fuel and non-fuel products and services. This pivotal role will involve managing the uptime on the sites, reviewing pump prices to maximise volume vs margin at each site and.

The successful Head of Retail Estate and Operations is also expected to have significant convenience store experience to create and execute growth strategies for shop sales in light of an ever shift in consumer buying behaviour and be on the front foot as changes occur. There is also a strong emphasis of growing this portfolio extensively as we aim to double the profit of the division by 2030. This role will also take the lead on supporting the appraisal of growth opportunities to expand the estate with the aim to double in size by 2030.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and inspire high-performing Retail Estate teams, embedding a strong safety-first culture and driving colleague development.
  • Build strategic relationships with suppliers, stakeholders, and business leaders to deliver commercial growth and operational excellence.
  • Champion an exceptional customer experience, increasing footfall, sales, and profitability across the retail network.
  • Drive network growth through new site acquisitions and development opportunities.
  • Oversee operational performance, ensuring maximum site uptime, product availability, and service standards.
  • Manage and deliver Retail Estate financial performance, with accountability for c. £11m annual PBIT.
  • Identify and implement efficiencies through digital innovation, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide strategic leadership to support long-term business objectives and contribute to the company's 3-year growth plan.
  • Analyse market trends and consumer behaviour to shape retail and convenience store strategy.
  • Ensure supplier partnerships and business operations align with ESG commitments and sustainable business practices.
