Head of Retail Savings

Location: Newbury (hybrid working, 2 days minimum in office)
Hours: 35 hours per week (Monday–Friday)
Salary: up to £70,000 dependent on experience

Introduction

Newbury Building Society are looking for an experienced, commercially minded leader to take on a high-impact role within their Branch & Savings function.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will be responsible for leading their digital savings sales and distribution strategy and teams across their branch network and online channels, ensuring strong commercial performance alongside exceptional customer outcomes.

Working closely with Executive colleagues, you'll play a key role in shaping the Society's savings strategy, driving sustainable balance growth, strengthening their community presence and delivering a seamless customer experience across every channel.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the delivery of savings strategy, driving acquisition, retention and balance growth across branch and online channels.
  • Developing high-performing teams by coaching, supporting and empowering leaders across their branch network.
  • Using customer insight, market intelligence and performance data to identify trends, opportunities and areas for continuous improvement.
  • Working collaboratively with Product, Marketing, Operations and Finance to deliver a compelling and competitive savings proposition.
  • Driving commercial performance while ensuring outstanding customer outcomes and service standards.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key third-party suppliers and community partners.

Essential skills and experience

  • Experience leading savings growth across multi channels, including digital
  • Senior leadership experience within retail financial services
  • Proven track record of delivering commercial growth, customer retention and business performance
  • Experience leading multi-site teams through change and continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret MI and translate insight into business action
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
