Are you an experienced Reward leader who’d be keen to explore a part-time job share?

Oasis Community Learning is one of the UK’s largest multi-academy trusts and we’re looking to appoint a co-Head of Reward to join our current Head in this new job share working arrangement. In this role you’ll co-lead a small Reward team in a central operation supporting our community of 58 primary and secondary schools.

We’re looking for a proven, collaborative Reward leader with experience in complex, unionised organisations, for whom this style of working arrangement will fit well with their long-term career plans.

The role

Reporting To The Director Of People And Culture, you will co-lead, develop and deliver the Reward and Recognition Strategy, policies and framework to support the OCL and People Strategy. This will include the developing, owning and driving the Reward Framework and agenda, including compensation and benefits policies, programmes and practices, to help attract, retain, engage and motivate employees. You’ll coach and develop the Reward Team to become known as a centre of excellence and for advising People Managers, Managers and Employees on Reward best practices. Key accountabilities will also include:

  • Review, develop, and maintain OCL’s job framework to ensure it remains accurate, relevant and able to attract, motivate and retain people with the skills that OCL needs.
  • Management and governance of reward programmes and annual reward processes, ensuring that OCL’s reward programmes are effective, competitive, and fair through regular benchmarking and actively collecting and reviewing employee feedback.
  • Ensure fairness across OCL’s reward strategy, including understanding any pay gaps (gender, ethnicity, disability) and leading on action plans to address identified issues. Ensuring OCL’s reward strategy and practice ensures equality in decision making and application.
  • Provide inclusive leadership to a team of reward specialists, and reward and recognition consultancy to the People Team and line managers across OCL on the reward framework and programmes.
  • Lead the development of reward communications, tools and processes that deliver a great manager and employee experience, achieve organisational objectives and recognise local legal/market/cultural differences, and overseeing the effectiveness of the delivery of reward services from the People Operations team.

The person

We’re looking for a senior Reward expert with the collaborative nature and organisational skills to work in an effective partnership with your co-Head of Reward. You’ll be able to show deep experience in designing and implementing reward strategies, frameworks and practice, including but not limited to pay, benefits, job levelling and recognition programmes and in delivering successful outcomes. You’ll also have prior experience of working and advising at a senior HR level in a complex, unionised organisation (education sector knowledge is advantageous), with up-to-date knowledge and expertise of best practice and current developments in reward, benefits and performance management. We also look for:

  • Demonstrable ability to develop new or innovative approaches to existing complex reward frameworks.
  • Well-developed inclusive leadership skills and a dedication to developing a team.
  • Experience of building productive relationships with and influencing multiple stakeholders both internally and externally and with unions and employee representatives.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to demonstrate creative problem solving and influencing through analysis.

Practicalities:

  • Time: 2.5 days per week
  • Location: Hybrid working remote/on-site at our London HQ or one of OCL’s academies.
  • Salary guide: c. £70-75,000 FTE (location dependent)
