Head of Risk - SMF4 - Asset Management - £160,000 - £170,000

We are working with a global investment management firm searching for an SMF4 registered risk leader, primarily focused on their retail platform and investment management business. This individual will take ownership of regulatory relationships and sign off on capital approaches, working closely with the business to find solutions rather than operating in a strictly traditional 3-lines-of-defence model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a global team of 25-30 people across business risk and tech risk.
  • Serve as the primary regulatory contact (SMF4) taking ownership of regulator relationships and signing off on risk frameworks.
  • Work closely with the capital team to understand and oversee the capital model approach.
  • Partner with business leaders (including Head of Tech Risk, Head of Retail Risk, Head of Platform Risk) to improve efficiency.
  • Champion a collaborative, solution-oriented approach with the business (not a check-the-box audit style).

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
