We are supporting an established and growing organisation with the appointment of a Head of Risk & Compliance.

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced Risk & Compliance professional to take ownership of the organisation’s approach to risk management, compliance and governance.

Working closely with senior leadership and stakeholders across the business, you will help ensure the organisation has a robust and commercially focused approach to managing risk while supporting its continued growth and development.

The Opportunity

You will lead the organisation’s Risk & Compliance function, with a broad remit including:

  • Developing and enhancing the overall risk management framework
  • Identifying and assessing key strategic, operational, financial and regulatory risks
  • Providing clear and effective risk reporting to senior leadership
  • Maintaining appropriate compliance and governance frameworks
  • Monitoring changes in the regulatory landscape and assessing their potential impact
  • Strengthening policies, procedures and internal controls
  • Developing effective compliance monitoring and assurance activity
  • Providing advice and guidance to senior stakeholders
  • Supporting audit and regulatory requirements
  • Leading and developing the Risk & Compliance team
  • Supporting significant business change and strategic projects
  • Improving the use of data, technology and reporting across the function

About You

We are looking for an accomplished Risk & Compliance leader with a strong track record operating at senior level within complex, regulated organisations.

You are likely to have:

  • Significant experience leading a Risk and/or Compliance function
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise risk management and governance
  • Experience developing and implementing risk and compliance frameworks
  • Experience working across complex or multi-jurisdictional environments
  • The credibility to operate effectively with senior executives, Boards and other key stakeholders
  • Strong commercial judgement and a pragmatic approach to managing risk
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience building, coaching and developing high-performing teams
  • The ability to balance strong risk management and compliance with wider commercial objectives

Previous experience of holding an FCA Senior Management Function (SMF), or operating at SMF level within a regulated environment, would be highly advantageous.

Experience gained within financial services or another regulated sector would also be advantageous.

Exposure to areas such as M&A, regulatory change, operational resilience, cyber risk, data privacy or emerging technology governance would be beneficial.
