Head of Sales – Established Wine Importer – North of England – Up to £75,000 plus car allowance and bonus

This leading Wine Importer is on the look out for a senior leader to support in their next phase of growth. The business has been around for almost 20 years and boasts an incredible range of premium wines, along with entry level and mid-range producers. The aim is to expand their presence, grow listings and develop their range and team.

We are currently looking for a Head of Sales to join the team. The Head of Sales will ultimately be responsible for managing and leading the new business ventures in the business, developing the sales team and ensuring they hit maximum capacity and drive brand awareness through independent and large operators across the North of England.

This role will be hands on and require a candidate who is comfortable developing new business, has experience working with a range of wine producers and a strong network across the North of England.

The Head of Sales Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to achieve sales targets and expand our customer base across the North (Manchester, Yorkshire, North Midlands and Northeast)
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships with key accounts in the retail and hospitality sectors.
  • Identify new business opportunities and effectively manage the sales pipeline.
  • Conduct regular field visits to engage with customers, provide training, and ensure excellent product presentation.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional activities and campaigns.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to inform sales strategies.
  • Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and market analysis to senior management.
  • Lead and mentor a team of sales representatives, fostering a high-performance culture

The Ideal Head of Sales Candidate:

  • Proven experience as a Regional Sales Manager or Head of Sales or similar role in the drinks industry or FMCG sector, with experience managing business across the North.
  • Strong sales acumen with a track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a remote team effectively.
  • Knowledge of the London market, with established relationships in the retail and hospitality sectors being a plus.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively across the region
