About the Opportunity
Pybus Recruitment is exclusively supporting a leading automotive financial services organisation in the appointment of an experienced Head of Sales.
This is a rare opportunity to join a highly respected business in a strategic leadership role, responsible for driving national sales performance, developing key retailer partnerships and leading a high-performing field sales team.
Reporting into the senior sales leadership team, you will lead a team of field-based Account Managers, delivering commercial success, regulatory excellence and outstanding customer outcomes across a national dealer network.
This role is certified under the FCA Senior Managers & Certification Regime (SM&CR).
The Role
As Head of Sales, you will take full responsibility for the performance and development of the sales function, driving both qualitative and quantitative objectives while ensuring a strong focus on customer outcomes and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and motivate a team of up to eight field-based Account Managers.
- Deliver commercial performance against agreed targets, including volume, penetration, retention and profitability objectives.
- Build and manage strategic relationships with dealer investors, dealer principals and senior retailer stakeholders.
- Lead retailer operational reviews and business performance meetings.
- Negotiate used vehicle finance programmes, commercial packages and pricing strategies.
- Produce accurate sales forecasts and business performance reports.
- Contribute to wider commercial planning, marketing initiatives and business growth strategies.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and implement commercial programmes.
- Ensure the highest standards of customer experience and regulatory compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement and operational excellence across the dealer network.

Senior Management & Regulatory Responsibilities
As a certified SM&CR role holder, you will:
- Ensure the business area is directed and managed effectively in line with governance expectations.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable FCA regulatory requirements.
- Promote accountability, integrity and appropriate conduct standards throughout the business.
- Embed Consumer Duty principles into decision-making and day-to-day activities.
- Maintain effective delegation, oversight and documentation of responsibilities.
- Ensure robust risk management and escalation processes are in place.
- Uphold Fit & Proper standards and regulatory obligations at all times.
Leadership & Culture

Skills & Experience Required
The successful candidate will possess:
- Significant experience within automotive finance or the wider motor industry.
- Strong understanding of dealer networks and retail automotive operations.
- Proven success in a senior sales leadership role.
- Experience leading and developing field-based sales teams.
- Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking capability.
- Exceptional communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Excellent stakeholder management and relationship-building abilities.
- Experience working with manufacturer partners, finance providers or large automotive retail groups.
- Strong analytical, forecasting and reporting skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint capability.
