Head of Sales, 3PL, Field-Based / National
£75,000 Base + £650 pcm car allowance + annual bonus and the scope to design your own ongoing incentive structure, 33 days holiday from day one plus Company Pension.
A well-established 3PL logistics provider is seeking a high-performing Head of Sales to lead, scale, and transform the business development engine. With clients including major multiple retailers, national builders' merchants, and food manufacturers, they provide end-to-end supply chain solutions, including warehousing, fulfilment, and freight forwarding. Your remit is to drive revenue growth, expand market footprint, and mentor a high-achieving sales team.
To drive the next phase of substantial expansion in 2027, the board is consolidating its commercial leadership into a single, unified Head of Sales. You will take full strategic and operational ownership of an existing commercial team of ten (Key Account Managers, Business Development Managers, and Marketing), transforming the department into a disciplined, proactive, high-growth sales engine.
What is Required to Apply to the Role of Head of Sales
- Minimum 10 years of progressive B2B sales experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior leadership or Head of Sales capacity managing both Account Managers and BDMs.
- You must be trained in a formal sales methodology and be almost evangelical about it, i.e. SPIN, Challenger, Sandler, MEDDIC / MEDDPICC, Solution Selling, Miller Heiman, Consultative Selling, Value-Based Selling, SNAP Selling, Gap Selling. In addition, you must have embedded this structured consultative sales framework across a team.
- Demonstrable success scaling revenue from "X to Y" as a Sales Leader. While we are looking for the best sales leader, your background should be aligned. Ideal backgrounds include freight, transport, logistics, or physical supply chain, or experience selling to clients such as food manufacturers, building product manufacturers, major multiple retailers, or major construction industry wholesalers (builders’ merchants, electrical wholesalers, plumbing and heating merchants, etc.).
- You will be a high 'D' Character in DiSC profiling, i.e. someone who is direct, forthright, data-driven, and highly motivated.
- You will be the kind of person who sets exceptionally high standards for yourself and others, cutting through ambiguity to make things happen.
- You will be a hands-on coach, not someone who is purely strategic about sales operations.
- You will be a natural mentor who combines competitive hunger with emotional intelligence, high integrity, and authentic presence in the boardroom.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
