Head of Sales

Hull / East Yorkshire, with some UK travel

£50,000 to £80,000 + car + bonus

We are working with an established, engineering-led manufacturer with ambitious plans to significantly grow its UK market presence and, over time, develop an international sales channel.

This is a rare opportunity for a commercially driven sales leader to shape a function rather than inherit one.

Initially, the role will be hands-on. You will personally develop new business, build market coverage and create momentum. From there, you will have the autonomy to define the structure, processes and measures required to build a scalable national sales team.

As the UK platform develops, the remit will broaden further, with scope to enter new international markets and build a network of distribution partners.

The role

You will take ownership of the sales strategy and translate growth ambitions into a practical plan across markets, territories and customer groups.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and owning the UK sales strategy.
  • Personally leading new-business development during the initial phase.
  • Building a strong and predictable sales pipeline.
  • Identifying the most attractive customer segments and market opportunities.
  • Creating a clear territory and customer-development approach.
  • Recruiting, coaching and developing a regional sales team as the function grows.
  • Establishing effective CRM, forecasting, KPI and sales-management disciplines.
  • Improving visibility across pipeline, conversion, revenue and margin.
  • Working closely with engineering, production and service teams to ensure commercial activity reflects operational capability.
  • Helping shape future marketing priorities and market positioning.
  • Developing an international distributor strategy as the business expands overseas.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
