Head of Sales

£70,000 - £80,000 + Bonus South East Hampshire

A well-established and successful business within the wholesale and distribution sector is seeking an experienced Head of Sales to lead, develop and grow its commercial function.

This is a significant leadership opportunity for a commercially minded sales professional who can combine strategic thinking with hands-on leadership. You will play a key role in driving revenue growth, developing a high-performing team and supporting the continued success of the business.

The Role

As Head of Sales, you will take ownership of the sales operation, leading a team of telesales and account management professionals to deliver sustainable growth and exceptional customer service.

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will develop and execute sales strategies, drive commercial performance and create a culture focused on accountability, customer excellence and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing sales team.
  • Drive revenue, margin and customer growth across the business.
  • Develop and implement sales plans aligned with company objectives.
  • Establish clear KPIs and performance management processes.
  • Support account development and customer retention initiatives.
  • Identify new business opportunities and routes to market.
  • Analyse sales performance and market trends to inform strategy.
  • Build strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
  • Recruit, develop and retain top commercial talent.
  • Work collaboratively across the wider business to achieve growth objectives.

About You

We are looking for an experienced sales leader with a proven track record of delivering commercial success within a B2B environment.

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience leading and developing successful sales teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking capability.
  • A track record of delivering sales growth and improved profitability.
  • Excellent coaching, mentoring and people leadership skills.
  • Strong planning, forecasting and reporting experience.
  • Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach to leadership.

Experience within wholesale, distribution, trade supply, manufacturing or a related sector would be advantageous.
