About Shuffle

We’re on a mission to help great independent hospitality businesses grow.

Shuffle is a two-sided marketplace that provides upfront capital for the best hospitality businesses in the UK and random cashback rewards for customers of those businesses through the Shuffle app.

After a careful selection process, Shuffle invests directly into restaurants, bars, and cafes. It is the return on these investments that allows us to offer rewards to our customers, and our relationship with our restaurant partners ensures no one is left short by any transaction.

Shuffle was founded in 2023 and we’re live in Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow, and Edinburgh. Our partners include well-known local names such as Lina Stores, Salon Madre, Onda, Amber’s, and Maray to name but a few.

We've raised £9m in funding so far from top-tier VCs in both Europe and Canada, including JamJar, Portage, Episode1, Antler, and True Ventures.

What is it like working at Shuffle?

We are driven by four core values, which underpin our culture and the way we operate as a business:

  • We don’t just work at Shuffle – we own it
  • We work smarter, otherwise we work harder
  • Winning is the goal, and we play to win
  • Understanding others makes us stronger, sharper, and better together.

We believe in building a small team of A-players: high-performing individuals who drive impact.

We foster an in-person culture, with four office days each week. Wednesdays are optional for remote work, giving you flexibility while maintaining the collaboration that drives our success.

About the role

We're hiring our first Head of Sales.

Shuffle has product-market fit, a differentiated model, and the capital to scale it. What we haven't built yet is repeatable, consistent sales execution. Sales is being handed over from founder-led selling, not inherited as a finished machine. You'll get to define what good looks like rather than fit into someone else's system.

Reporting directly to Ollie Purdue, the CEO and co-founder, you'll take on our existing city sales team, own net-new merchant acquisition across all five live cities, and build the operating system that lets the team scale — forecasting, pipeline discipline, reporting, and the hiring plan behind it.

This is a hunter's role, and we want to be clear about that. We're looking for someone whose track record is in winning new business, not managing an existing book. You'll be expected to close deals personally, especially in your first few months, both to learn the model properly and to build credibility with the team. Over time you'll act as a floating closer who unblocks stuck deals across every city.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

On travel: This role covers five cities. Expect to be on the road three or more days most weeks, with your remaining days in our London office. You don't need to live in any particular city, but you do need to be based somewhere that makes that weekly travel sustainable.

What you'll be doing

  • Own the number

Own net-new deal volume by city against explicit monthly targets, and raise consistency across the team so our best months become our baseline.

  • Own pipeline coverage

Own pipeline coverage across our channel mix. This means BDR-led walk-ins, referral introductions from existing owners, and our introducer scheme. You'll be expected to improve conversion at every stage.

  • Personally close deals

Personally close deals, especially early on, and act as the closer who unblocks key deals in any city.

  • Build and lead the team

Take line management of our existing city sales team: four "investors" across Manchester, Liverpool, London, and Glasgow/Edinburgh, plus three BDRs.

Hire into an ambitious plan of at least six more investors and six more BDRs across the UK, plus a dedicated London team as that market scales.

Raise standards, accountability, and consistency, freeing the founders from day-to-day sales oversight.

  • Build the infrastructure

Build our sales operating system largely from scratch: KPIs, dashboards, forecasting, and pipeline visibility in HubSpot.

Formalise our deal-target framework. Minimum, on-track, and stretch thresholds by city and month. Setting into a sustained operating rhythm.

Partner on facility sizing and underwriting input as deal sizes grow, working closely with our lending and credit function.

    Own the sales tech stack.

  • Partner cross-functionally

Work with our Head of Marketing to define the merchant-side demand generation split between marketing and sales.

Partner with Customer Success on expansion and top-up handoffs.

Represent the commercial function at leadership level as Shuffle becomes a more sales-led business.

Who you are

Essential

  • A genuine hunter. Your track record is in net-new logo acquisition, not primarily account management or expansion.
  • Still happy to sell. Comfortable personally carrying and closing deals, especially in your first few months, rather than operating purely as an oversight hire.
  • A systems builder. You've built sales data and reporting from something close to scratch, and you know what good looks like.
  • Owner-operator experience. You've sold to founders, owners, and P&L holders in SMB or mid-market businesses, ideally through in-person, relationship-led cycles of around a month.
  • Early-team leadership. You've managed and developed a young sales team, raising standards and consistency from a low base.
  • Genuinely mobile. Willing and able to travel three or more days a week across five cities, including stretches living out of hotels.

Desirable

  • Experience in hospitality, fintech, or lending.
  • Exposure to two-sided marketplace models.
  • Familiarity with city-based or territory-led expansion.

How you work

  • Strong personal drive to close, and comfortable with high, visible activity expectations.
  • Data-driven by instinct — you reach for the numbers before the anecdote.
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-expectation culture with a direct feedback loop.
  • Low ego and collaborative. You'll be working shoulder to shoulder with two hands-on founders who still sell personally.

What we offer

  • Competitive base salary, positioned at the 75th to 90th percentile of market, plus equity
  • Performance-based bonus, weighted to team output rather than personal deal count, and a 6-monthly performance-based equity bonus
  • Visa sponsorship for top international talent
  • 33 paid days off each year: 20 days of personal holiday, 8 UK bank holidays, plus a 5-day company-wide Christmas shutdown to recharge
  • Private healthcare
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Monthly team socials and weekly office lunches
  • Extra reward boosts at Shuffle partner venues
