Head of Sales
New Business | Technology-Led Logistics & Delivery | Manchester (Hybrid)
Salary: £75,000 – £85,000 + performance-related bonus + benefits
Location: Manchester - hybrid working
Type: Permanent, full time - newly created role
Recruitment partner: Nter Talent (retained)
The opportunity
We are working exclusively with a fast-growing, technology-led logistics and delivery business to appoint its first Head of Sales.
The business runs an API-first platform and a managed courier network that gives retailers and marketplaces ultra-rapid, same-day and next-morning delivery in one place. It already delivers for a number of household-name retail, ecommerce and logistics brands, and is scaling quickly into new categories and new markets.
This is a new role created off the back of that growth. The commercial engine has been built on founder-led selling and inbound demand; the next phase needs a genuine new business specialist to own it properly.
The role
This is a hunting role, not a caretaking one. You will own the new business number end to end building the pipeline, running the pitch, and closing multi-year contracts with commercial and operations leaders at mid-market and enterprise retailers, marketplaces and 3PLs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You will be the first dedicated senior sales hire, so you will also shape how the business sells: proposition, pricing conversations, pipeline discipline and the commercial rhythm the function is built on. There are no direct reports on day one; a team follows the numbers.
What you will be doing
- Owning and delivering a new business revenue target for the UK
- Identifying, targeting and opening senior conversations with retailers, ecommerce marketplaces, brands and logistics providers
- Running complex, consultative sales cycles from first meeting through commercial modelling, tender and contract to go-live
- Building credible commercial cases around service levels, cost-to-serve and delivery performance
- Working closely with operations and product so what is sold can be delivered, profitably
- Bringing structure to forecasting, pipeline reporting and CRM discipline
- Representing the business at industry events and with key partners
About you
- A proven new business winner you can point to contracts you personally sourced and closed
- Background in logistics, delivery, ecommerce fulfilment, supply chain or a related B2B service or technology environment
- Comfortable selling at director and C-suite level, and equally comfortable prospecting from a cold start
- Strong commercial and numerical judgement you understand margin, not just revenue
- Self-directed and comfortable in a scale-up: no playbook handed to you, and no appetite for waiting for one
- Based within a commutable distance of Manchester and happy to travel to clients
