Head of Sales - Carbon Energy Markets Trading
Located: London, City
Team of: 8-10
Basic Salary - £90-£110k plus substantial OTE and potential company growth share scheme
Mainly On-site working with flex
This is a great opportunity to be part of a highly motivated leadership team motivated to grow the business to new levels with vested interest.
My client is a boutique, ambitious and fast paced player in the Carbon energy trading space. With a well developed and comprehensive service to UK & International clients looking to navigate compliance across renewable energy, voluntary carbon markets and risk compliance management.
As such they are entering their next phase of growth and build on the strong foundations already established and looking for a new Head of Sales to further develop the team and their commercial sales proposition in key areas:
- Expansion of existing services
- Product development
- International growth
- New market opportunities
- Strategic hiring
- Improved commercial execution
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Growth & Strategy
- Lead execution of the company’s commercial growth strategy
- Drive revenue growth across trading, advisory, and consultancy services
- Identify and develop new commercial opportunities, sectors, and revenue streams
- Build business cases for strategic investment and expansion initiatives
- In partnership with Marketing, develop and execute targeted go-to-market strategies across UK, EU, and international markets
- Support international expansion and entry into new markets
- Contribute to medium and long-term commercial strategy with senior leadership
Sales Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of account managers and new business development professionals
- Build a high-performance, accountable, and professional sales culture
- Set targets, KPIs, and performance standards; monitor and drive results
- Conduct regular one-to-ones, pipeline reviews, and team sessions
- Recruit, onboard, and retain high-quality sales talent
- Identify capability gaps and support long-term succession planning
- Maintain high standards of professionalism, execution, and commercial discipline

Sales Execution & Performance
- Drive consistent execution of sales processes and best practices
- Own pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and revenue delivery
- Improve pipeline quality, conversion rates, and sales effectiveness
- Ensure activity is aligned with strategic priorities and target sectors
- Support with major commercial opportunities, key client relationships, and complex negotiations
- Work closely with the team on account strategy, targeting and opportunity development
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Revenue Operations to optimise CRM, data, reporting, and sales processes
- Partner with Marketing on lead generation, campaigns, and GTM development/execution
- Collaborate with Product, Research, and Operations teams to strengthen market positioning and client delivery
- Identify systems, process, and operational improvements required for scale
- Ensure strong alignment between commercial activity and wider business objectives
- Represent the sales function in senior leadership discussions

- Consistent delivery of measurable, long-term revenue growth
- Greater consistency in sales execution across the team
- Enhanced accuracy in forecasting and stronger pipeline quality
- Clear and effective implementation of growth strategies across key priorities

- Effective recruitment and development of high-performing commercial talent
- Scalable sales processes that support business expansion
- Proactive identification and successful execution of new growth opportunities
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a hands-on commercial leader with strong strategic capability and a track record of building and leading successful sales teams.

Experience
- Demonstrated success in leading and expanding B2B sales teams
- Consistent track record within consultative or solution-driven sales environments
- Experience developing and executing sales strategies in complex or specialist markets
- Strong commercial acumen with experience across both new business and account management
- Proven ability to foster high-performing commercial cultures
- Experience collaborating closely with senior leadership in growth-oriented organisations
Experience in environmental markets or carbon trading is beneficial but not essential. Could also come from a B2B, FX, Trading, Sales or adjacent energy business.

This role would perhaps better suit someone who is in part a strong player / manager, therefore able to build up a client base and execute sales leading by example and adaptable to manage the needs and grow the team / sales operations.
