Sales Department Head / Lister – Islington

Location: Islington, North London

Salary: Flexible – strong package for the right person

OTE: Highly competitive / uncapped

Job Type: Full-time, permanent

I’m working with one of the best-known names in UK estate agency to find an experienced Sales Department Head / Lister for their established Islington office.

And this is much more than simply a listing role.

The successful person will take responsibility for a key part of the Islington sales market – broadly £0–£1m – with genuine autonomy to build, grow and shape the department.

You’ll inherit a team of two Sales Negotiators, but the brief is very much about growth. You’ll be responsible for winning instructions, driving market share, developing the team and ultimately building this part of the business into a significantly bigger operation.

The department alone has the potential to generate around £600,000–£700,000 in annual revenue, while the wider office has historically produced more than £6m, so there is serious opportunity here for someone ambitious who wants more ownership than a conventional valuer role can offer.

The Role

You’ll effectively run your own sales department within a highly successful and established Islington office.

Your focus will include:

  • Winning new instructions across the Islington market, predominantly within the £0–£1m price range
  • Carrying out market appraisals and converting valuations into instructions
  • Developing and executing a strategy to grow market share and revenue
  • Managing, coaching and developing two Sales Negotiators
  • Driving prospecting and new-business activity across the department
  • Setting standards around activity, service and performance
  • Managing your own targets alongside the overall performance of the department
  • Building strong relationships with sellers, buyers and the wider local market
  • Understanding the commercial performance of the department and taking ownership of its growth
  • Identifying opportunities across the wider business and working collaboratively with other departments
  • Supporting the Branch Manager and confidently deputising when they are away

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Crucially, you’ll be given real autonomy. They aren’t looking for somebody simply to maintain an existing desk. They want somebody who can look at the opportunity in Islington, work out how to attack it and build a genuinely high-performing department.

Who We Are Looking For

The job title is deliberately flexible.

You might currently be a:

  • Senior Valuer / Lister
  • Assistant Manager
  • Sales Manager
  • Associate
  • Senior Associate
  • Department Head

What matters more is your experience and capability.

Ideally, you’ll:

  • Have strong residential estate agency experience
  • Be an accomplished valuer/lister with a track record of winning instructions
  • Know Islington or the surrounding North London market
  • Understand how to generate business rather than relying purely on incoming valuations
  • Be commercially minded and comfortable taking ownership of a department
  • Have the credibility and leadership skills to manage experienced negotiators
  • Be ambitious about growing market share
  • Be confident enough to step up and run the office in the Branch Manager’s absence
  • Combine strong sales ability with excellent client service

Previous management experience would obviously be useful, but this could equally suit an outstanding Senior Lister or Associate who is ready to take genuine ownership of a department.

Why Consider It?

There are plenty of estate agency jobs where “progression” means waiting for somebody above you to leave.

This isn’t one of them.

You’re being handed a clearly defined market, an existing team, a recognised brand and an established office – and being asked to grow it.

For the right person, there is scope to make this department their own and build something substantial within one of North London’s strongest residential markets.

The salary is deliberately flexible. My client is far more interested in finding the right person than forcing the hire into a predetermined salary bracket, and they are prepared to offer a strong package for somebody with the right experience, local knowledge and track record.

If you know the Islington market, can win instructions and like the idea of running and growing your own department within an established premium estate agency business, I’d love to have a confidential conversation.

All applications and conversations will be handled in complete confidence by 2point0 Group.
