I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What is Required to Apply to the Role of Head of Sales

To apply, you must meet the following seven basic criteria:

  • Product sales experience (not service sales).
  • At least 3–5 years as a National Sales Manager, Head of Sales or Sales Director managing teams that look after both key accounts and business development.
  • You must be trained in a formal sales methodology and be almost evangelical about it. In addition, you must have embedded this structured consultative sales framework across a team.
  • Your CV must demonstrate how you have grown sales teams and scaled revenue from "X to Y" as a Sales Leader.
  • You will be a high 'D' Character in DiSC profiling, i.e. someone who is direct, forthright, data-driven, and highly motivated.
  • You will be a hands-on coach, not someone who is purely strategic/sales operations. This is a role for a ‘do’er and not a pointer’.
  • You will be a natural mentor who combines competitive hunger with emotional intelligence, high integrity, and authentic presence in the boardroom.
