The Opportunity
Here at RS, we have a fantastic Commercial Leadership opportunity to lead the development of our PPE Sales offering. The Head of Sales is a newly created highly strategic and critical role within the organisation, responsible for driving commercial strategy, accelerating revenue growth, and developing strong customer partnerships across all sectors.
Working in partnership across the Sales function and beyond, this role provides the strategic leadership in a shifting of our wider business, with a focus on the go-to-market strategy on widening the entirety of our PPE offering ensuring the delivery of profitable sales performance, considerable market expansion, and of course exceptional customer experience.
What you will be doing
You will be accountable for c. £90m of current sales, with a growth target of £250m to be achieved by developing and delivering the PPE & Safety sales strategy for the largest commercial market in RS Group, whilst leading a sales force of up to 20 people across the UK. You will deliver sustainable and profitable sales and market share growth, along with transforming Sales to become a pioneering function that is fit for the future and differentiates from competitors.

- Embed effective business and commercial acumen throughout the sales organisation to deliver profitable growth
- Evolve the sales organisation to be able to drive value selling to solve customer problems and meet customer needs
- Pioneer modern and future-focused sales operating models to be agile and flexible to leverage new technologies and the changing world around us
Placing the customer at the heart of what we do, with our strategic and key suppliers in mind you will create a progressive and forward-thinking team that is focused on maximising our market relationships with suppliers to drive the best possible outcomes for our customers.

This role will allow the individual to operate in a highly complex, fast-moving, multi-cultural environment and be part of a wider EMEA Sales leadership community. This person will be actively encouraged to seek new and better ways to develop the Sales proposition within the UKI market.
What you will bring
You will bring knowledge and understanding for the development and implementation of a wide range of value propositions relevant to the industrial distribution marketplace. With an understanding of the market potential and competitive landscape of the domain, you will have a proven track record of executing sales strategies and growth in large business environments.
You will be progressive in your thinking, style, and ways of working and able to introduce and inspire new generations of talent in a rapidly changing digital world.
Essential Skills & Experience
- B2B Industrial Distribution experience (PPE/Safety would be great but not essential)
- Extensive experience in leading a large, dispersed sales organisation
- An excellent communicator with top-notch presentation skills.
