The Opportunity

A profitable, well-established UK manufacturing business is looking to appoint a Head of Sales to lead the next phase of growth within a specialist construction products division.

This is an opportunity to join a market-leading business with a strong reputation, significant investment behind it and a clear ambition to increase market share across the UK residential construction sector.

The division is already a recognised player in its market, supplying engineered timber solutions into the housebuilding industry through both direct and distribution channels. The foundations are in place. The product is proven. The customer base is established. What is needed now is a commercially driven sales leader who can help accelerate growth and strengthen relationships with some of the UK's largest housebuilders.

The Opportunity

This is not a turnaround situation and it is not a business chasing growth at any cost. The business has a strong position in its market, a respected brand, long-term customer relationships and the backing of a financially secure parent group. It combines the scale and resources of a major industry player with the culture and agility of a privately owned organisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You will be joining at an important point in the division's development:

  • Significant opportunity exists to increase market share within a large and established UK market.
  • Strong relationships are already in place with leading national and regional housebuilders.
  • The business is investing in commercial capability to drive specification and long-term demand.
  • Decisions are made quickly and without unnecessary layers of bureaucracy.
  • Senior leadership is highly supportive and actively involved in the growth agenda.
  • The culture is straightforward, collaborative and focused on getting things done.

For the right person, this is an opportunity to genuinely influence strategy, shape the future sales organisation and leave a lasting mark on the business.

The role

Reporting into the General Manager, you will lead the commercial strategy for the division while remaining close to customers and the market.

This is a hands-on leadership role rather than a desk-based management position.

You will:

  • Develop and execute the sales strategy.
  • Build relationships with major housebuilders, developers, distributors and strategic partners.
  • Lead, coach and develop a growing sales team.
  • Drive specification activity and market-share growth.
  • Support key commercial negotiations and major customer opportunities.
  • Improve forecasting, pipeline management and commercial discipline.
  • Work closely with operational, technical and commercial colleagues to ensure profitable growth.

About you

We are far more interested in market credibility and customer relationships than specific product experience.

You may currently be working within:

  • Timber systems
  • Timber frame
  • Engineered wood products
  • Construction products
  • Building materials
  • Roofing, insulation or specialist building solutions
  • Off-site construction
  • Housebuilding supply

Most importantly, you will understand how large housebuilders buy products, influence specifications and make commercial decisions.

You will have the credibility to engage at senior level, the commercial mindset to identify growth opportunities and the leadership capability to bring people with you.
