About The Role

CGA is seeking an experienced Head of Science to lead the Science faculty across IGCSE and A Level programmes at the Aoraki Campus. This leadership role is responsible for driving academic excellence, managing Biology, Chemistry and Physics teachers, overseeing curriculum quality, and shaping the future of online science education through innovative teaching practices, including AI integration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Science department across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
  • Oversee curriculum design and delivery for Pearson Edexcel and Cambridge International IGCSE and A Level qualifications.
  • Maintain high standards in teaching, assessment, feedback, and student achievement.
  • Support and develop teachers through coaching, lesson observations, and professional development.
  • Drive innovation by integrating AI and educational technology into science teaching.
  • Contribute to whole-school leadership and strategic planning.
  • Engage with students, parents, and prospective families.
  • Support extracurricular activities such as Olympiads, competitions, and science clubs.
  • Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Current New Zealand teaching registration.
  • Significant secondary Science teaching experience.
  • Strong expertise in at least one of:
    • Biology
    • Chemistry
    • Physics
  • Previous departmental or faculty leadership experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IGCSE and A Level Science curricula (Pearson Edexcel and/or Cambridge International preferred).
  • Proven record of strong student outcomes.
  • Confidence teaching in an online environment.
  • Interest in using AI to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
